Oh how I love to plan! I can while away the hours (literally) planning remodeling projects, possible road trips, landscaping that will turn my little yard into a pollinator’s delight, or any myriad of things. Before I retired, my 2nd-favorite part of teaching (behind interacting in the classroom with students) was lesson planning.
Because I so love to plan something (anything!), once an idea or project pops into my head, I have always immediately jumped right in with all my own big ideas. Because, of course, my ideas are the best, right? (Hint: the answer is “no”)
As I’ve been sidelined this past year, the idea of planning has worn me out. Even the thought of struggling to get out of my favorite chair to grab a notebook and pen was, from December 2024 until three weeks ago, overwhelming.
But as I’ve regained energy, I find the urge to look forward and make plans has returned. Now, though, I find I am less inclined to jump right in and start planning. Instead, I’m seeking the plan of the One Creator of the good, eternal, and important plan.
What about you? Are you being intentional about seeking God’s plan first?
