Mud. Brown, oozy, and not very pretty, right? Whenever I’ve read the account (John 9:1-3) of Jesus healing the blind man by scooping up some dirt, spitting on it to make mud, and placing the mud on the man’s eyes, my first reaction has always been, “Ewwww, spit and mud! Why in the world did you do that, Jesus?”
But the question I should be asking is “what?”
You see, I know God is always with me, and I know He is always at work executing His perfect plan. So I shouldn’t be wasting time questioning His methods. Instead, I should be asking is this:
What can & should I be doing to be attuned to and ready for what God does and, perhaps even more importantly, to be ready to immediately do what He calls me to do?
Some answers quickly come to mind:
spend more prayer time listening for Him (
spend more time studying His Word
spend more time praising and glorifying Him
Mud. Brown, oozy, and not very pretty. God’s work in our lives — perfection!
